Daniel Guggenheim Quartet

Four individualists, one sound — contemporary jazz from his own pen.

The Daniel Guggenheim Quartet brings together four experienced jazz musicians who turn their shared playfulness and curiosity for new sounds into an unmistakable signature. At the centre are Daniel Guggenheim’s own compositions — pieces that combine atmospheric density and improvisational freedom, exploring the full range between lyrical restraint and expressive power.

With pianist Sebastian Sternal (ECHO Jazz, Neuer Deutscher Jazzpreis), bassist Dietmar Fuhr (University of Music and Dance Cologne) and Swiss drummer Silvio Morger at his side, Daniel Guggenheim has a rhythm section that brings every composition to life with a fine ear for colour, dynamics and form.

In May 2022, the current album “red orange and blue” was released. Press reviews praise the recording as evidence of a rare kind of musical maturity: four soloists placing their individual skill in service of a shared sound. Live, the quartet plays festivals, jazz clubs and concert halls across Germany, Switzerland and all of Europe.

“Warmth, nobility and improvisational finesse run through Guggenheim’s compositions in a balance that is so captivating because four individualists find their way to a common voice.”
Ulrich Steinmetzger, Jazzpodium 07/2022
“Daniel’s sound on the saxophone is gorgeous and inviting, full of warmth and lyricism. These guys were truly on the same page — heart-felt right from the first note.”
David Liebman
